Customer questions & answers

Question:How is the this monitor a 27 inch and have a product width of 24.5?
Answer:The screen sizes for monitors and TVs is always the diagonal measurement. So the viewable screen for the LG 27'' Class 4K UHD IPS LED Monitor with HDR 10 (27'' Diagonal), Model # 27UL500-W has a diagonal measurement of 27" and the monitor has a side-to-side measurement of 24.5". Remember the pythagorean theorem from high school c = the square root of the width squared multiplied by the height squared?

Question:This infor says its 1ms is this true?
Answer:No around 5ms

Question:What is the difference between hdr 10 and hdr 400 version?
Answer:HDR 10 is the standard and an HDR 400 monitor describes the brightness of a monitor within the HDR 10 standard. It is an oversimplification is to say HDR 1000 monitor is brighter than HDR 600 monitor which is brighter that HDR 400 monitor but it gets the point across. I am very happy with this monitor for what I do, mainly coding and writing. I would not consider a monitor that was not at least HDR 400 certified. Maybe in a year or two I would only consider an HDR 600 monitor but today they are too expensive and not that available.

Question:I read conflicting informations! could you please tell me how to display 4k@60? i am using a macbook pro 2020. do i use hdmi? or dp? thanks.
Answer:The LG 34” UltraGear Curved QHD Nano IPS 1ms 144Hz HDR 600 Monitor with NVIDIA G-SYNC® Ultimate, Model # 27UL500-W supports a maximum resolution of 3840 x 2160@ 60Hz over DisplayPort and it will support 3840 x 2160 @ 60Hz over HDMI when HDMI ULTRA HD Deep Color is set to On. Check to make sure that your graphics card in the device that you connect to the monitor is set to output 3840 x 2160 @ 60Hz.

Question:it has a 2.2 hdcp?
Answer:As indicated in the title for the LG 27'' Class 4K UHD IPS LED Monitor with HDR 10 (27'' Diagonal), Model # 27UL500-W, it has a native UHD resolution of 3840 x 2160 and it supports HDR10 so the HDMI ports on the monitor will have to be HDMI 2.0a ports which is required for HDR10 support and they will have to be HDCP 2.2 compliant which is required to pass a 4K signal. For you to pass a 4K signal to the monitor, everything in the video signla path has to be HDCP 2.2 compliant for the 4K signal to pass. If any one device in the video signal path is not HDCP 2.2 compliant, a 4K signal will not pass.

Question:Does this monitor support 4K and 120fps at the same time?
Answer:The LG 27'' Class 4K UHD IPS LED Monitor with HDR 10 (27'' Diagonal), Model # 27UL500-W has a native 4K UHD (3840 x 2160) resolution and a native refresh rate of 60Hz. It does not support a refresh rate of 120Hz.

Question:What is the ppi (pixels per inch) of this monitor?
Answer:it's a 4k monitor 3840x2160 multiply the two and you will get your answer.

Question:Is it possible to remove the the metal piece that protrudes 1 inch and the stand screws into?
Answer:You can remove the back mounting piece, and mount the monitor on a standard swinging arm.

I use these monitors daily for graphic and web design. Image quality is a solid 4/5 for me, what you would expect at this price. Not ultra-crisp 5k, but better than 1080p - an ideal range if you’re designing for all different displays and devices. Brightness is similar (4/5), not the most vivid, but a tick better than average. After months of researching prices, reading these reviews and others, watching YouTube videos, etc - I decided to invest in these. I plan to use them daily for several years, I’m 100% happy with the decision.

I've had this monitor for several months now and love it. It replaced an old 28 inch 1080p that became unusable for me for viewing text. I use it mainly for work all day, which consists of reading documents, web pages and working with web applications. I also use it to view and edit photos fairly often. The picture is excellent and text is sharp at native resolution with Windows set to 175%. There are no dead pixels or color/light bleed around the edges. It's been the perfect step up solution to be productive all day and have an excellent display for pictures and video as well. My only gripe is that it does not have auto-detect for input so I have to manually change inputs every time I switch between my work and home laptops which is fairly often. This combined with a joystick control that has to be pressed up from the bottom to start is a bit of a pain. Also, I did mount it to an adjustable stand right away as I need it to sit low on my desk and most monitors that have an adjustable stand don't go low enough.

i tried a previous monitor its resolution was no match for the retina macbook pro (2015). I didn't want to spend too much, got mine refurbished. I do layout and design work so I require type and pixel efficiently displayed, a must. the hdmi plug-and-play was super easy from the get-go for my older model. It could be a bit brighter, but I am so happy with this purchase. not sure if the base-stand arch dimensions are anywhere, but the two ends of the half moon shape are about approx. 15.25 in. width, it fits fine and fully stable on my monitor stand (14.6" width), only the very end of its feet peek out.

This LG monitor is, in one word, great. Out of the box, it came with a color calibration sheet, and told me about gamma, delta E (<5) , and white balance (3500K). Once activated on the OSD, Freesync was immediately dected by my Radeon Software, which was nice. The monitor looks great, with nice brightness (more on that later) and clarity. It came with both a Displayport 1.4 and HDMI 2.0 cable, as well as a small external power brick. The stand is good, and has some weight to it, however I did not use it, and instead took advantage of the 100mm VESA mounts. Back to the display. I see this monitor as "HDR 10" compatible, and windows 10 detects this as an HDR monitor, but please note, it only has a peak brightness on about 350 nits, making it more HDRish. The bezel sizes are alright, but nothing special. I personally would not use this monitor for Competitive gaming, as the response time is not great and it is only 60hz, however it does have Freesync, so more cinematic games look great. Video consumption and production on this thing is nice as well, and I would definitely recommend this monitor. For the last image of both monitors, the one on the right is the LG 4K monitor, which has an IPS panel. The left one is an older Samsung VA panel, at 1440p.

After years of getting just average laptops, I finally splurged on a powerful Dell Inspirion. I like having a monitor connected to my laptop when I'm working, and with a 3840 x 2160 resolution, my old monitor wasn't going to cut it. After much research I settled on this one. Two months later, I'm very impressed with my choice. For someone like me who has always purchased cheap 20 inch or so monitors, this thing is BIG. As you can see by the photo, it dwarfs my 15.6 laptop. Know what you're getting if you have a small office space. The visuals are gorgeous - extremely crisp. I never realized how blurry my old monitor was until I started using this. As soon as I plugged in my HDMI cord, it fired right up and after a couple of minutes of adjusting the brightness and contrast, I was in business. The stand is sturdier then it looks, and the monitor itself has 2 x HDMI ports and a DisplayPort - more then enough for me After two months of regular use, I'm very happy with this monitor. It's my first LG purchase, but if this keeps up it may be my new go-to brand.

After this being the third monitor I bought for lookin for the best monitor to use with Xbox one x. I finally stick with this one. Xbox settings are as follows since some ppl on these comments have no clue what the hell theyre doing. Allow 4K check HDR10 check Allow VRR (variable refresh rate) Color bit change from 8-bit to 10bit. Do not Allow YCc this is for screens that are having difficulty processing all of this data thru HDMI at once. If the picture is choppy then allow it. Otherwise DO NOT. MONITOR SETTINGS: Once Xbox settings are set. You can reset the console and monitor so that the monitor picks up the Xbox settings. Once it does. Picture adjust will Be hdr modes. example: hdr FPS or hdr RtS. For cod games FPS obviously. All others rts. Make sure black level is around 40-60 (lower) and FreeSync is either on basic or extended and response is on faster. All set. Best so far til series x and 4k@120

Comes with HDMI and UHD cables. Brightness and colors are great! Looks awesome while gaming, though when looking at still images or bright games/movies, things where there is a lot of light, you can kinda see the pixels. Little fuzziness but not at all noticeable while gaming. Something you have to have an eye for. There is ONE BUTTON... THE POWER BUTTON! You have to press and hold it to bring up a menu and it can be pressed directionally for controls and press down to select. Sometimes pink is the option you are highlighting sometimes it’s the white option I think. Super confusing. That’s my only complaint. Stand has to be assembled and attached but was easy as legos. Took about 1 minute.

In use since arrived a month ago. Picture quality is awesome [connected to MacBook Pro] at full 4K resolution. A LOT of space there vs OLD 1080P monitor I had before :) Crisp, clean picture, no text/image blur. I wish it had internal speakers, but I was not looking for those when purchasing this monitor. Thank you. P.S. I do not use it for gaming, so can't say anything regarding lags or fps or other game-related stuff.
